Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Colour Transparent Red Ochre is one of the oldest pigments. Originally made from the natural iron oxides found in earth, it is a brownish red pigment and was often used in Michelangelo's drawings.
Every tube of Artists' Oil Paint contains a calculated ratio of oil and pigment based on the quantity of oil in the tube. This varies from color to color because, just as some pigments need to be ground finer than others, they also need more, or less, oil to provide optimal performance.
