Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Colour Ruby Madder Alizarin is a deep toned, transparent variety of Alizarin Lake. It is mixed with linseed/safflower oil and is a permanent color with very excellent lightfastness. Matching a color swatch from a 1937 tint book from the colorman, George Field, Ruby Madder Alizarin was developed to be a longer lasting lake madder color.
