Watercolor Basics Pt 2 with Anne Kupillas 7/27

Expanding on the first watercolor basics workshop, Anne will cover pigments and color theory. Do mingling exercises, washes, glazes, wet on wet techniques, dry brush and spattering. Learn about masking and other ways to preserve the white of the paper.
PLUS 5 common errors and how to fix them- blending streaks, picking up beads, damp blot, lifting out spots, streaks, edges with magic eraser AND how to color correct by glazing. There will be time for play and practice.
Required Materials:
Artist-quality Watercolor Paint in tubes PANS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED for this class. (Daniel Smith, QOR or Winsor Newton recommended) in the following color recommendations
-Cadmium Red Light (or a comparable red)
-Opera Pink or Quinacridone Rose
-Hansa Yellow
-Burnt Sienna
-Indigo
-Sap Green
-Ultramarine Blue
-Phthalo Blue
-Medium size Oval Wash or Pointed Filbert brush (Suggested: Princeton Aqua Elite series)
-Small Round brush for details (size 2 or 4)
-5 pieces of 8"x10" good quality 100% cotton watercolor paper -- Arches, Meeden, Hannemuehle or Strathmore Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper (sheet or block). Paper made from wood pulp or hot pressed papers are NOT recommended for this class.
-Masking Fluid (Pen or jar, Daniel Smith is good, other brands are ok too)
-A graphite pencil (HB, 2B, or 4B are good)
-A 9x12" or 11x14" board to tape down your paper
-Other materials - cup, palette, blotting towel, tape, etc - will be provided.
Please note this in person class is limited to 20 students, students 18 and under need to be accompanied by an adult.
