Learn the fundamentals of head construction, including the anatomy and proportions of the head, neck, and shoulders. We'll cover essential materials and techniques for creating portraits on canvas or paper. You may choose to work in charcoal or in oil paint. If you're new to drawing or painting portraits, this class offers an excellent starting point for developing this fascinating skill. Begin with a thorough yet relaxed introduction before working from a live model.
Materials Required: For charcoal: one 12x16 paper and one 16x20 paper For oil: one 12x16 canvas or gessoed panel, and one 16x20 canvas or gessoed panel
Materials Provided
Vine Charcoal, Stick Charcoal, and a 23"x26" Tote Board. Or Oil Paint (Titanium White, Ivory Black, Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre & Venetian Red), Da Vinci Bristle Brushes (Flat 1/2" & Filbert 1/4"), Palette, Solvent-Free Gel, Paper Towels, Gamsol & Gloves
You may want a pen or pencil, and notebook or sketchbook for notes.
This is a 6 hour class and will break for a lunch mid-day.
This class is limited to 14 attendees. Attendees under the age 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.
