The Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencil is a high quality drawing pencil with special lead formulation to create metallic lustre in a wide variety of grey tones. It is designed for writing, drawing and sketching, and hatch mark making on paper as well as matte drafting film. Each pencil has a blue hexagon barrel and super-bonded lead that is especially break-resistant. Pencils are easy to sharpen and their markings are easy to erase.

Staedtler Mars Lumograph B pencils have a soft, dark lead while H pencils have a harder, lighter lead. Staedtler Mars Lumograph HB pencil is midtone in hardness and value while the F pencil ranges toward the slight harder lead and lighter value. Lead diameter: 12B: approx. 4.5 mm, 11B-6B: approx. 3.6 mm, 5B-3B: approx. 2.5 mm, & 2B-10H: approx. 2.0 mm.
