DANIEL SMITH's Bloodstone Genuine is part of their line of superb PrimaTek naturally pigmented watercolors. Its' intense and velvety aubergine mass tone develops into a warm gray wash that lifts beautifully and provides immediate gratification when it comes to granulation, be it on hot- or cold-pressed paper. Bloodstone mixes very well with each of our more than 240 watercolors and is especially wonderful with transparent Rhodonite Genuine and Quinacridone Burnt Orange.
DANIEL SMITH created the PrimaTek line of paints made from minerals, some semi-precious, beginning in 1998 with a cache of Lapis Lazuli. They have a mineralogist who sources minerals which we process into pigment, then mill it into watercolor. PrimaTeks express themselves with gorgeous granulation, giving a sense of movement and depth that some artists have described as magical.
