During this class cover the basics of painting in watercolor. Anne will cover water balance, how to control paint flow, working wet, damp and dry. Brushes and brushstrokes, pigments and consistencies, materials, resists and tricks, top mistakes, how to avoid them and more! Perfect for beginners and those looking for a refresher on techniques.
Required Materials:
Artist-quality Watercolor Paint in tubes PANS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED for this class. (Daniel Smith, QOR or Winsor Newton recommended) in the following color recommendations
-Cadmium Red Light (or a comparable red)
-Opera Pink or Quinacridone Rose
-Hansa Yellow
-Burnt Sienna
-Indigo
-Sap Green
-Ultramarine Blue
-Phthalo Blue
-Medium size Oval Wash or Pointed Filbert brush (Suggested: Princeton Aqua Elite series)
-Small Round brush for details (size 2 or 4)
-5 pieces of 8"x10" good quality 100% cotton watercolor paper -- Arches, Meeden, Hannemuehle or Strathmore Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper (sheet or block). Paper made from wood pulp or hot pressed papers are NOT recommended for this class.
-Masking Fluid (Pen or jar, Daniel Smith is good, other brands are ok too)
-A graphite pencil (HB, 2B, or 4B are good)
-A 9x12" or 11x14" board to tape down your paper
-Other materials - cup, palette, blotting towel, tape, etc - will be provided.
Please note this in person class is limited to 18 students, students 18 and under need to be accompanied by an adult.
