Museum Series Gessobord is a semi-smooth, semi-absorbent surface excellent for oil and acrylic painting. Gessobord is made from Ampersand's premium warp-resistant 1/8" profile FSC-certified Hardbord that is protected with the proprietary Archiva-Seal and coated with professional-grade acrylic gesso. It is an acid-free, archival, museum-quality panel. Recommended for acrylic, airbrush, casein, cold wax, collage, graphic marker, image transfers, mixed media, oil, paint pouring and printmaking.
The superior quality acrylic gesso ground does not dull colors and the slight, even texture provides exceptional brush control for fine detail. Gessobord is perfect for plein air, palette knife work, heavy impasto, wipe-out, and glazing techniques.
Ampersand's premium, warp-resistant, FSC-certified Hardbord ensures your artwork is supported to prevent damage from warping, bowing, or movement. It is strong enough to hold up to the most rigorous palette knife painting and heavy layers of collage and will not bow or flex like canvas.
Ampersand Museum Series panels now feature Archiva-Seal protection on both the front and back of the wood panel. Before painting grounds are applied, Archiva-Seal helps seal wood fibers, create a barrier between the wood substrate and painting surface, and protect the long-term integrity of the panel. Treated on both sides for a more balanced, stronger, highly warp-resistant panel. The white back is the visible result of extending that archival protection to both sides. Made with conservator-quality materials, acid-free, pH Neutral.
