Ampersand Museum Series Aquabord Panel 1/8" Flat 8"x8"
Museum Series Aquabord is a textured, highly absorbent surface designed for watercolor and gouache. Aquabord is crafted from Ampersand's premium warp-resistant 1/8" FSC-certified Hardbord that is protected with their proprietary Archiva-Seal and coated with an acid-free clay and mineral ground with a texture similar to cold-pressed watercolor paper. Colors retain their purity and vibrancy in a way that even the finest of watercolor papers can't match and Aquabord allows artists to frame and display their watercolor without glass.
Aquabord will not tear, shrink, or buckle even under heavy water application. No stretching or mounting is required making it a perfect surface for plein air. Recommended for acrylic, casein, gouache, ink, mixed media & watercolor media.
Ampersand Museum Series panels now feature Archiva-Seal protection on both the front and back of the wood panel. Before painting grounds are applied, Archiva-Seal helps seal wood fibers, create a barrier between the wood substrate and painting surface, and protect the long-term integrity of the panel. Treated on both sides for a more balanced, stronger, highly warp-resistant panel. The white back is the visible result of extending that archival protection to both sides. Made with conservator-quality materials, acid-free, pH Neutral.
TIP: Apply a thin layer of water to the Aquabord surface using a flat watercolor brush to release trapped air. Once the surface is slightly damp and no more visible air is releasing, apply color.
