Watercolor paints uses fine pigments that have been mixed in a water-soluble vehicle. Depending on the concentration of water, it can make the color rich and vivid or pale and light. Certain colors like Ultramarine Blue have granulation, which provides a natural pattern onto the surface. Watercolor is very versatile. It can be worked onto a damp or dry paper and can be applied very wet or very dry. It is recommended to work from light to dark, for it is difficult to revert back to the pure white provide from watercolor paper. The use of salt and sponges provides different patterns that cannot be offered by water itself.
