Light Boxes are designed to illuminate sheets of paper or photos for the purpose of tracing and editing. These are used also for embossing small accents. Animators use lightboxes for drawing and planning a scene's frames too. The standard light box comes with a case, either metal or plastic, which contains the electrical components including the light bulb. All lightbox bulbs radiate light similar to daylight. Because of this, lightboxes are designed to be plugged in. Common batteries would not have energy to power the bulb. The lightbox has a plexiglass top, allowing the light to pass though and the user to see that they need to see.
